SAMUEL L YANKELL

During the course of Sam Yankell’s half century career as a research scientist, he became increasingly immersed in painting and sculpture and developed a profound body of work that continues to evolve to this day.  Sam grew up on a cattle farm near Bridgeton New Jersey.  He focused on a scientific career during he is college years and  his major influence in art began in the 1960s because of his friendship with the artist Leon Bibel.  He used his scientific methodology and began an exploration of painting and sculpture in a broad range of 20th century styles including pure abstract as well as figurative and seaside works.  Over the next six decades he would focus on creating sculptures in many media and styles. Most recently, Sam has launched Yankell Research Concepts (YRC Inc) and has poured this lifetime of aesthetic experience into a series of iconic figurative sculptures in a broad range of themes that exhibit tremendous geometric freedom and vitality while incorporating innovative and unique construction and finishing materials.  Sam Yankell’s work is a reflection of a contemporary renaissance life, a life well lived that shines forth with peace and joy.
